I enjoyed the S.H.I Mentorship visit to Anua junior Academy in kibera. The students were interesting, warm and receptive. I am extremely delighted to be part of this mentoring group as I believe it will be one of the revolutionary avenues in the near future to assist students from such disadvantaged backgrounds to exploit their full potential and achieve their educational and self-improvement goals. Through sharing with p-Mentors and their colleagues in school on the different self-help tools for their own and communal development, I believe such students will be able to gain the knowledge and exposure that will be handy once they graduate from high school. Most of the students we have met are really bright and given the right opportunity and platform can achieve the impossible. Once again, I am grateful and honored to be a volunteer with S.H.I Organization.

Throughout my life I have been very fortunate to have mentors, from my parents, my siblings and close friends, who have guided me in different aspects of life. This has had a tremendous impact on my life, molding me to be the person I am today. This got me thinking that I should impact someone else’s life by giving back to the society as a SHI-Mentor, especially making the young children and youths believe in themselves since this is the first step to achieving one’s goals in life. The S.H.I .A Mentorship program has been a great way for me to do this. Early this year in January 2018 when I visited home for the winter break, fellow SHI-Mentors and I visited with two of the S.H.I.A Mentoring Club (SHC) Schools: Boi and Wera Primary Schools based in Rarieda, Kenya. I got the opportunity to speak with the class 8 pupils, telling them about themselves and inspiring them to DREAM BIG. It was very humbling seeing and talking with the students and their teachers. It reminded me of how I once sat in a nearly similar classroom like them. The look of admiration on their faces was priceless. It inspired me to strive even more. I am glad S.H.I.A Organization and the SHC Schools gave me the opportunity and I would definitely do it over again when I can.
